Instagram in quarantine - #covid19 (part 2)

Zdravo svima!

_______________________________________________________________________

Hello everybody! The state of emergency in my country has been going on for 31 days now, and no matter where you're from and what things are like where you live, I hope that every one of you is healthy, safe and okay. As it's still uncertain to tell how long this will last I decided to share my activities in the last 12 days with you, hoping it may help you get through this period and give you ideas on how to spend your time.
Before I start, I just want to remind you of the most important thing - the world is in a state of pandemic, not in a productivity contest. You don't have to burn a certain number of calories on a daily basis, you don't have to become a professional chef, you don't have to write a book or whatever. Everyone is coping with this in their own way and no one is wrong. The number one priority is to take care of yourself and make sure you're okay, and what I'm sharing here is a set of suggestions and ideas. If you feel like crying your heart out and watch movies or series while snacking, that's perfectly fine. If you think you'll feel better if you exercise, clean your whole house or cook, that's just fine as well. The circumstances the whole world is living in are anything but normal, and there is no reason whatsoever to be harsh on yourself for not baking your own bread because someone else on social media has. Comparison sucks the joy out of us, in these times when nothing is certain the last thing we need is to feel inferior compared to anyone else. Everyone's battling this in their own way, there are no winners or losers here. Our lives are put on hold until further notice, but this too shall pass. And it's gonna be okay, for all of us.
If you do want to keep yourself busy and you need any ideas on what to do, I hope some of my latest activities will be of some help:

1. Decluttering the jewellery box:  Knowing how much we're prone to impulsive shopping of clothing, shoes and accessories due to the trends coming and going so quickly, things we own often pile up and take up space. When I decided to take a look at what's going on in my jewellery box I spent at least an hour untangling so many knots the necklaces I mostly no longer wear got into. I threw away all those tarnished pieces, put away the ones in good condition I no longer wear to regift when this ends, and I neatly organized everything I decided to keep, making sure I never see the mess I had again.

2. Battle against misogyny:  Throughout history, women have been through thick and thin trying to fight for equality with men in all those spheres of live they've been wrongfully deprived, starting from getting education, a job, choosing their partner, reporting violence and filing for divorce. Sadly, even now in 21st century there is still plenty of injustice directed towards women and they're judged by their looks and whether they have a partner and children or not, and their qualifications, talents and education are ignored, especially if a woman is on a highly ranked position. Some of those examples are misogynistic comments on social media directed towards dr. Darija Kisić Tepavčević, a highly educated doctor who specialized in epidemiology. I want to encourage you to refuse to be quiet when you witness injustice of any kind, not just towards women, but to anyone who can suffer from it. May it be spoken about because apart from this pandemic, the world has plenty of problems that have been waiting for a solution for far too long.

3. Dedicating to a forgotten hobby:  Have you ever had a hobby that relaxed you, but you've been too busy to keep it going? Now can be the time to come back to it and get better at it. I was practicing some photography by taking photos of this gorgeous plant in my flat.

4. Cooking the stress away:  We all feel like blowing up from time to time, don't we? Instead of stressing out it's much better to get rid of all the stress by cooking at least something simple to eat. Trust me, cooking is a great activity to distract yourself and it relaxes me so much so I'm inviting you to give it a go at some point.

5. Be your own barista:  You surely miss the atmosphere of your favourite café, but just because you're staying home doesn't mean you have to give up on having good coffee! Try making the famous dalgona coffee that has taken the internet by storm: mix equal parts (at least two tablespoons for one cup) of instant coffee, sugar (honey is good too if you prefer it) and boiling water, blitz it up until you get a thick foam and pour over milk. Enjoy!

6. Bring flowers into your home:  Whenever you get a chance to go outside, pick or buy some flowers and put them in a room where you spend the most time. A bit of spring is always a good idea!

7. Making a meal from scratch:  Let's make a classic dish packed with flavor without shortcuts such as sauces from a can and do it all from scratch! Spaghetti bolognese is one of my favourite dishes and if you want to see how I make it you can find my instagram story highlights called 'RECIPES' and get it from there, but I'll put it on the blog as well soon.

8. Make a shopping list:  As necessary as it may be to practice social distancing, it's anything but an easy task and once we go back to our usual life we deserve to treat ourselves, don't you agree? Think about what you'd like to gift yourself and as soon as this is over get yourself something new.

9. A movie / series marathon:  Have a break and watch movies and series you've been wanting to start, but never had the time for. You can even go back to your old favourites, pour your favourite drink, have something sweet and enjoy!

10. Skincare:  All the stress piling up during these times reflects on our skin and we need to give it plenty of TLC to nourish and recover it. The product I swear by is the NUXE huile prodigieuse multi-purpose oil which I included in my hair and skincare routine, I suggest you to give it a try!

11. Music:  Music is proven to help us relax and release negative energy, so I suggest you to make a playlist of your favourite songs, put your earphones in and think about nothing. You'll thank yourself for the much needed emotional detox.

12. Writing down ideas, thoughts, plans and feelings:  As we're stuck in our homes for most of the day I'm sure all of us are having so many things on our minds and we have to let them out from time to time. If you think of an interesting idea, have a happy thought or just need to get something off your chest, write it down in your journal / diary, type it in your computer and discharge. You never know what might come from it.

Stay home and take care of your own health and the health of your loved ones. Hang in there, we're all in this together.
